Maple Leaf Test Rides

The continuing saga of test riding a Supercycle SC1800 (Canadian Tire product # 71-1556)

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

km 9044.2

All systems running at maximum efficiency. Checked air to 60PSI all around and lubricated chain rollers with 20 SAE oil.

Biggest item of note is that pedals were replaced with VP-565's(MEC product #4013710$8) at around 8950km. Reflectors included, large surface area interfaces well with Norwegian welt boots, bearings feel rough out of the box.

Another item of note is that bell became inoperable as a result of vandalism after being locked up on November 8. Bell was installed on September 16, 2006, lasting over two years at a cost of $0.

Replaced it with Canadian Tyre product #073-0609-0($3.99). It is chromed silver bell. Glued it down with ethyl-2-cyanoacrylate.

Other item of note is that Cateye instrumentation broke off and was left dangling by a wire on the evening of November 1. Reattached with another dose of ethyl-2-cyanoacrylate (AKA 'Krazy Glue'). Now working.
